Democrats control management of Tech and Government
When hiring managers are dominated by Democrats (who hire only Democrats) this is a problem.
Changing a system is (close to) impossible when the people running the system don’t want change.
This is true whether we are talking about a business or a government.
Example: If 95% of the managers and executives at a company all want there to be a “no T-Shirts” policy… you’re probably not going to be able to wear a T-Shirt to work. At least not without getting a weird lecture from Rob about how “unprofessional” you look and how your totally awesome Back to the Future T-Shirt doesn’t “represent the company” well.
Let’s look at Tech companies first
With that in mind, consider the make-up of Democrats vs Republicans within major Tech companies.
It’s extreme, right? Ever wonder why Netflix produces and promotes shows which are highly offensive to Conservatives (such as shows promoting pedophilia)? This is why. Their company is 99.6% “Democrat”.
Or why social companies disproportionately silence Conservative voices? Just look at the chart.
Looking at donations is particularly interesting when considering the management and leadership of companies — as higher level management tends to earn higher salaries (with, often, larger bonuses) and are therefor (oftentimes) able to contribute larger amounts of money to political organizations.
We are witnessing a dramatic shake-up happening right now at Twitter — which, pre-Elon, clocked in at 98.7% Democrat. Now we know, thanks to “The Twitter Files” releases how that worked out in practice: Twitter made extreme decisions that dramatically favored the Democrat party…. and (quite eagerly) worked closely with the party leadership itself to do so.
Were there Republicans within the company that could change this? Yes. But they were outnumbered by such an extreme amount (1 to 100 — or somewhere thereabouts) that bringing about a change like this was all but impossible if the management was set on having this Democrat favoring (and Republican silencing) continue.
It took a driven, focused billionaire to come in and effect any sort of noteworthy change.
Once a group gains significant hiring power within an organization — and that group has a preference for hiring more people within that group — the dominance of that group will tend to increase. And stopping that trend is extraordinarily difficult.
Personal anecdote time
Back during the late 1990s and early 2000s, I worked for Microsoft. When I first joined the company, the division I worked in had an ethnic make-up that was a rough approximation of the local area.
Shortly after I was hired, one of my coworkers was promoted to a low-level management position. That gentleman was from India. And, as the months progressed, he primarily hired other people who were either from India, or had some level of heritage from India. I’d put the percentage of new hires being of Indian heritage at 80% or higher.
Over time he was promoted to a higher level management position, where he continued his hiring strategy. He then proceeded to promote others of Indian heritage into lower level management roles beneath him. Those people, just as he did, primarily hired those who looked like them.
Within a few short years, the division was predominantly Indian — 60% or more of all people within that part of the company. And this included nearly all managers with hiring power. The ability to reverse this trend — without someone coming in with a clear “just don’t hire people from India” rule — was close to impossible.
Now, obviously, having a rule against hiring a group of people — be it based on ethnic, religious, or political grounds — would be highly unethical. So that division was now one that was permanently (effectively) an Indian one.
Unrelated but fun side note: It got so extreme that, eventually, there were only three “white guys” left on the entire team. And there were just enough offices for every person to get their own… except for the “white guys”. We were told to share an office — the smallest office (about the size of a large closet). We called it “The Honkey Office”. Seriously. It was so small that two of the “white guys” had to stand up and leave the office every time the guy who sat at the back had to enter or leave the office.
(That guy at the back of the office was me.)
When a group — of any kind — has a desire to hire more people from their particular group (and exclude those not within their group) effecting changing in hiring is nearly impossible.
And it almost always has an impact on rules, products, and policies within the company.
When that group is one of a political persuasion — with distinct goals that require the silencing or those not in their group — the impact becomes obvious and extreme.
This is happening within the US Government
The problem of Democrats outnumbering Republicans (especially in management and leadership positions) is not unique to the Tech industry.
Take a look at this rough breakdown of US Federal Agencies:
Note that every single part of the Federal Government of the USA is predominantly run by Democrats.
Not just Democrats that vote for Democrats… but politically active Democrats that feel passionate enough about defeating Republicans that they donate money to the cause.
The Department of Justice? 87.6% Democrat.
The FCC? 99.3% Democrat.
The ratio is extreme. Almost to a comical degree.
These people are unelected. They, for the most part, hire each other. Just like in the private sector. Some of these roles are appointed by the President… but not most.
Which means that the will of the people is not represented in the make-up of the management and leadership of these Federal Agencies. And not only are these the individuals responsible for implementing the rules and regulations… they are, more often than not, making those rules and regulations themselves — with little to no oversight from elected officials.
Wonder why Federal agencies imprison Conservative protesters (often without charging them with any crime)? Or why they regularly attack or seek to silence Conservative voices (such as parent looking to protect their kids)? Or why Democrats seem able to get away with extreme, well documented levels of election fraud without consequences?
This is why.
Combine this sort of deep, unchallenged corruption within the Federal Government with the same sort of thing happening in the Tech industry? That’s bad news. As we’ve seen from the deep collaboration between Social Media companies and the Federal Government to silence non-Democrat voices.
This is hard to change
In both the Federal Government and the Tech industry, highly partisan Democrats hold a majority of positions within hiring power.
While a (very) small amount of change occurs whenever a new Executive is placed in power (such as a new President being elected)… this change is never more than a shift of a few percentage points in one direction or another. Democrats consistently remain in total control of these organizations.
We’re currently witnessing one example of a way to effect change in this regard: The Elon Approach.
A strong, determined executive coming into power. Wielding a large ax, prepared to fire the vast majority of existing hiring managers.
We need a similar thing within the Federal Government.
A mass firing of non-elected positions throughout the Federal Government — at a high enough level to, at the least, even things out a bit.
It can be done. But it would take a leader with some seriously cajones. A leader absolutely determined to fix the problem.
