"Honk Honk" means "Heil Hitler"? Here's some other "H" sayings that probably do too!
"Happy Hanukkah", "Hush-Hush", "Ha-Ha", and "Hee Haw" all definitely mean "Heil Hitler".
Up in Canada, a Liberal MP stood on the floor of Parliament and declared that “Honk Honk” is code for “Heil Hitler”. Here’s a video clip so you can see this for yourself.
But, this got me thinking, if “Honk Honk” means “Heil Hitler”… then, in all likelihood, every saying with a repeated, alliterative “H” would also probably mean “Heil Hitler”. Right?
What follows is a quick (but, likely, incomplete) list of “H H” sayings and phrases that definitely, for realsies, mean “Heil Hitler”.
Happy Hanukkah ← (this one is my favorite)
Hand in Hand
Hang your Hat
Hard of Hearing
Have a Heart ← (also pretty obviously Heil Hitler)
Hay is for Horses
Head for the Hills
Head over Heels
Healthy as a Horse
Heart-to-Heart
Heavy Handed
Held Hostage
Hide nor Hair
Hit Home
Head Home
Hit the Hay
Hold your Horses
Home and Hearth
Hot as Hades
Hot-Headed
Hush-Hush
Hee Haw ← (assume this means the TV show)
Ha Ha
So. For example, the following phrase:
“Ha ha! Just heard a good joke on Hee Haw! But, it’s getting late. Time to Head Home and Hit the Hay. Oh, and if I forget… Happy Hannukah!”
… is the most Nazi sentence ever written.
It's called a dog whistle. It's a very important concept and should be known by anyone talking about the far right https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_whistle_(politics)
Or it's already known and this article is playing dumb.
