Firefox kills "Independent Voices" feature after 3 months.
Apparently having people declare that they are a "Dreamer" or "Activist" was too stupid even for Mozilla.
Back in October, Mozilla Corporation added a new feature to Firefox that might possibly be the most ridiculous feature ever added to a web browser.
They called it “Independent Voices”.
The idea was that you could tell Firefox what “kind” of person you are. Choosing from a list of such options as “Activist” or “Dreamer” (seriously). Firefox would then have a different window titlebar color based on that choice.
And, apparently, they partnered with a “shoe designer” to design that feature.
“‘Independent Voices’ are the voices of the past and present that create a better future,” Lascio said. “I chose this as my inspiration for the collaboration because it feels authentic to me but it also aligns with Firefox and the vision that we can make the world better, on the internet and beyond.”

That’s right. Mozilla couldn’t simply provide you with a way to theme or color your interface. No, no, no. That would be too functional, obvious, and handy.
They had to turn it into a feature where you make a statement about how you are an “Activist”. While, at the same time, allowing Mozilla to make press releases about how they support “Dreamers”.
Because these are, as Mozilla puts it, “Colors that change culture.”
Considering Mozilla’s long-standing endeavors to promote woke ideas, while censoring Conservative ideas, I think we know exactly how they wanted that culture to change.
Of course, the idea of changing culture via the “colors” of a web browser is a tremendously stupid one. It’s a simple, but weird, virtue signal. And, apparently, Mozilla realized that.
Because, as of yesterday, they killed the feature entirely.
Kudos to Mozilla for realizing that people don’t necessarily want to be told what a great “Activist Dreamer” they are because they like one color over another. And it only took them 3 months to make that realization.
That said, on the other hand, I am saddened that I will no longer have this spectacularly stupid feature to make fun of. Mocking Firefox, because of this feature, brought me great joy.
But, never fear! If, like me, you yearn for Mozilla Firefox to do stupid, pointless, laughably woke stuff… I’ve got a hunch we won’t have to wait too long.

What was even more annoying was it seemed after a certain time if you didn't set a color they'd nag you about it. I did like some of the colors, but I never chose it because 1 black is better, and they threatened to take the color you chose away after a time! So dumb. Standard themes is the way to go
