Good explanation. Another example of FOSS not being socialist is the owner of the code could make their project proprietary at any time. Then at that point the community that wants the product can either continue to use the last release, the new proprietary releases, or fork the code and go their own way. I think All that happened with Sun's code when Oracle bought it is a good example of this. In a socialist world, everyone would have to accept it going proprietary and there's nothing you could do about it
